There are many, many reasons why we should meditate daily. Meditation can come in many forms, but one of the main things that we need to learn is to quieten our monkey minds. When we do that we also slow down our brainwaves. I've talked about this in previous newsletters.
I've recently been reviewing my notes in one of my classes on the Akashic Records and one of the things my teacher was discussing was the measurement for the soul vibration rate. This measurement shows the level of ourselves where we access our intuition from. Do we get it from our mind and feeling level, or do we receive it from our higher self?
When we learn from our meditation practice to go into the place of being the witness, watching our thoughts and feelings as if we are above th em, and recognizing them as just being something that is feedback from the body and our thoughts, rather than being who we are, we begin to move into the first phase of our true spiritual development. To me this is the greatest benefit of meditation.
So when you spend just 10 minutes alone in a quiet place, you can focus on a work like 'peace', or 'love', if you need to focus on something so that your thoughts don't go scattering this way and that. Then see if you can reach the place where you can be above your feelings. They will still run through your systems and body. They are just embodied feedback, but they are not us, who we really are. Breathe through them. By quietening the mind and slowing down your breathing you will also slow down your thoughts and realign your feelings with what you want to feel.
